The famous virtual idol and popstar Hatsune Miku is back in a new and official outfit for Hatsune Miku GT Project, Racing Miku. The original 2022 Racing Miku illustration by neco has been carefully sculpted and brought to life into this 1/7th scale figure. Fans or not of Miku, you can't help but be charmed by her dynamic pose and fit physique.
The Hatsune Miku Racing GT Project, started by Goodsmile Racing, is a project that was created with the concept and purpose of having a "racing team that drives with its fans". The team began racing in 2008 in the GT 300 class at the SUPER GT, which is Japan's greatest motorsport race. Following their debut, the project has continued to race each year and the current team is called Goodsmile Racing & TeamUKYO.

The team's logo is a racing version of Hatsune Miku known as Racing Miku. This logo gets a new design each year. Over the years, Racing Miku has taken on a variety of looks over the years including ones inspired by the racing cars, the pit wall, and even a racing queen. Many of the racing team's fans found out and developed interest about them and the sport because of Racing Miku.

This year's Racing Miku, illustrated by neco and directed by Shigeto Koyama, is inspired by the athlete's racing suit as well as the cheerleaders. Miku wears a black asymmetrical racing suit with two light green triangles on the front. The asymmetry lies from the waist below, where her left leg is completely covered by the suit while her right leg has a mid-thigh gap exposing a little bit of skin. The heels are part of the racing suit, making it look as a futuristic style design while keeping it sleek and simple.

Although the racing suit is my favorite part of the outfit, the top garments and accessories are what complements the suit in both of color of Miku's hair and the racing suit's design. For the top, she wears a white long-sleeved crop jacket. The crop jacket has the Goodsmile Racing logo on the front along with red stripes on the collar of the jacket to strike balance on the front of the jacket. The jacket also sports a light green strip that matches her gloves, which are black long-sleeved up until just before the shoulder with light green on the palm, the racing suit, and the flag pole. Finally, we have Miku waving joyfully the light green Goodsmile Racing flag. The dynamic design makes it look as if Miku is waving it in real time.
The 1/7th scale figure of her design which is sculpted by Mishima, is holds every minute detail of neco's illustration. The most impressive feat out of the sculpture is that it maintains the dynamism that neco portrayed in his illustration.

The paintjob, which was done by Bread-Loving Housewife, captures the illustration's colors and tones perfectly. The black racing suit has a glossy finish that fits the aesthetic and material of the outfit. This glossiness does not overshadows the mid-thigh gap nor the crop jacket, striking the perfect balance for the figure.
The crop jacket has a good amount of wrinkles that I am sure it wasn't easy to sculpt or paint, but it makes it adds points to the dynamism of the figure.
The flag also retains her original form from the illustration and the way they managed to keep it faithful without the use of many supports is a feat on its own.
And last but not least, we have our racing star smiling at us joyfully as she waves the Goodsmile Racing flag.

As my first Racing Miku figure I am truly happy with how it came. Writing this article I had to research a bit on Project GT and I learned quite a bit. Maybe in the future I might start supporting the project and watch the motorsport. For those of you interested in the project and/or the motorsport I will leave links to the official site. I will also leave the links to those who contributed on this project. Feel free to leave your comment for discussions, recommendations, or suggestions about my blog.
